| Prison Ministry
The Foundation of Human Understanding operates a prison ministry that provides radio programs, spiritual counseling, books and other materials to any prisoner or former inmate free of charge. For those who have a sincere desire to change, this may be the only means available for overcoming violent, self-destructive habits borne of anger and rage.
We supply materials to thousands of inmates, many of whom have related their stories of successful recovery. We have received more than 11,000 letters of appreciation from prisoners and former inmates in the last four years alone.
"The first truth you see is the unpleasant truth about yourself"
Lying deep within the soul of those seeking truth is the desire to come to terms with, and repent from, past transgressions. This is especially true of many souls locked away in institutions across the U.S., souls who are searching for answers to the plight of their existence but have no compassionate resource to turn to.
Roy Masters and the FHU provide such a resource for those who want to understand and overcome what has led to their incarceration, for only when we turn inward and come to terms with the forces which have brought us to failure can we repent and renew a misused life.

How You Can Help
|"I saw a dramatic change in others around me that had started to meditate. Drag-Queens became heterosexuals, pedophiles gave up their sexual cravings, violent killers and tough guys became kind and caring individuals, dope fiends and drunkards became sober without A.A., and mental patients were no longer in the pill line. AMAZING!"
"Masters gave me back my true self and I thank him from the bottom of my heart. A.A., rehab and Bible-study programs don’t work in the prison system–they just don’t work! We have to start helping ourselves and try to get special approval for Roy’s meditation tape."
"…I must say that there is not a word nor a phrase that could possibly describe the way the Foundation has brought order back into my once-corrupted life. When the mirror looks back at me in the mornings I no longer see the confused and aggravated look that I’ve seen so many times before, but instead I see a light. A passage to another world just steps away. Due to the help from you and the wonderful Foundation, the light is no longer a step away but instead I am the light." --Dakota (Texas prison)
"I found out that all that I have learned is useless compared to the understanding I could get by simply meditating. I have read the book [How Your Mind Can Keep You Well] twice during the time I’m not meditating and I’m reading it for a third time. I discover something new almost on a daily basis." --Donovan (Texas prison)
"I was totally ‘awe struck’ in reading and discovering such an effective technique for promoting profound honesty and awareness to humanity."
--Gary (California prison)
"What a blessing you are to my soul. For years I have been trying to understand myself. I have come to the realization that I have, all my life, let my emotions control me and have needed people’s approval and acceptance..."
-- Steven (Pennsylvania prison)
"I was pretty devastated. Never have I had a book with such understanding."
--Carlos (California prison)
"…your talk is fascinating, absolutely fascinating. You have made me think about some things that I thought were silly before...." --Tracy (Texas prison)
