Communion Meditation

Partaking of Communion is at once an intensely private and a publicly shared act. While each communicant receives the blessing of bread and wine, and the forgiveness of sins implied therein, as an individual, communion also serves to bind together the members of a congregation. During the act of Communion, we are all humbled. Differences disappear in the knowledge that all men are sinners.

We are also united in celebration. The bread and wine of Communion serve to remind us that Christ's sacrifice was for us, and allows us grace despite our failings. While the rite of Communion is highly significant, we should ask for grace every day. One way to do this is through daily meditation.

"Be Still and Know," the meditation exercise developed by Roy Masters, offers you a way to access grace on a day to day basis. By following the guided meditation, you learn to let go of judgment and resentment, replacing those toxic thoughts and feelings with patience, understanding, and objectivity. When you clear your mind and soul from judgment, you find the grace to forgive others for their cruelties and injustices, and to forgive yourself for your sins and errors.
