Cancer Meditation
While many forms of cancer remain mysterious in origin, there are known toxins and carcinogens that can be cited as causative. Cigarette smoke, for example, is unquestionably linked to lung cancer. Similarly, there are medical treatments and interventions that can increase a cancer patient's chances of survival. Excision, radiation and chemotherapy are the most frequent choices.
But what if there were a spiritual cause as well as a physical cause? And what if curing that spiritual flaw could help cure the physical body? Roy Masters, head of the Foundation of Human Understanding, believes this to be the case.
Masters believes that angry people become more vulnerable to toxins in the environment, as well as toxic people and culture, while those who have developed a balanced objectivity have more natural resistance. Anger also affects our habits, leading us to addictions and compulsive behavior such as smoking, alcoholism, drug use and compulsive eating. (While food is a necessity, Masters believes that when it is used as a drug it becomes carcinogenic.)
Thus, freeing the soul from anger and other negative emotions is no doubt a factor in decreasing one's vulnerability to cancer and remission. In the nearly 50 years people have been using the "Be Still and Know" meditation exercise, many who have successfully overcome even "terminal cancer" attribute their success to the calming resolve and ability to conquer negative emotions they gained through the use of "Be Still and Know."
You can learn to release yourself from the power of negative emotions and put yourself on the track to a healthy spirituality. And that, Masters believes, will also affect your physical being. Several meditation techniques are already accepted as having a benevolent effect on cancer. Why not try one designed to heal your soul as well?
